Glastonbury reopened with new booking system in place
Domestic waste loads intended
for Glastonbury treatment centre (TC) will have to be booked in
advance using the existing
01225 524 508.
By applying the regional booking system to the centre it will
enable closer control of the volumes entering the works thereby
enabling it to re-open much earlier than was anticipated.
During the early monitoring period, the volumes and types of
waste will be limited. It is anticipated that as the processes
prove to be robust the works should gradually extend the
loadings.
Mallory Revollon, area scientist for the Glastonbury
treatment centre explained that a combination of the very cold
winter and operational umping problems caused the prolonged closure
of the works. Treatment centres take time to recover stable
treatment processes and this is why a cautious approach is being
introduced for accepting tankered waste once more.
